Tourism, travel webinar set

A Belle Vernon business owner is hoping to put the Mon Valley on the map as a go-to tourist destination.
Melanie Stringhill Paterson, owner of the Good Ol’ Days House, is opening her unique vacation home for a live webinar centered around tourism and travel on March 20.
Patterson said as the owner of a vacation house/rental for the last decade, she has seen first hand how important shopping, dining and entertainment are to area visitors.
“I am always searching for more knowledge in the travel and tourism business,” Patterson said, “and with my experience in renovating, owning and operating a unique travel destination here in the Mon Valley I feel there is definitely a market and tremendous appeal for travelers looking to rest and relax in places off the beaten path, so to speak, and who truly enjoy the small-town appeal filled with mom and pop shops, restaurants.
