Fire reported at Monongahela day care center

A fire was reported at a Monongahela day care center Thursday evening.

Wee Care Day Care Center, located at 532 Park Ave., had no reported occupants inside the building when the fire occurred, and no further details were released as of press time Thursday.

However, residents were encouraged to avoid Park Avenue.

In a post on Facebook late Thursday the Wee Care Day Care Center stated the following: “Thankfully, everyone is safe, and no children or staff were present at the time of the incident. Due to the damage caused, the daycare will be closed tomorrow and will remain closed until repairs are completed and we are able to safely reopen. We know how important consistency and care are for your children, and we are working as quickly as possible to assess the damage, make repairs, and keep you updated every step of the way. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support during this unexpected situation. We will provide additional updates as soon as we have more information.”
