Fire damages vacant McKeesport house
Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire at a vacant home in McKeesport early Tuesday morning.
The fire broke out in the 2900 block of Jersey Street.
Emergency crews were dispatched after multiple calls to 911 reported a house on fire around 5 a.m.
A deputy first to arrive at the scene reported the structure was fully involved in flames and requested a second alarm.
The second alarm was struck at approximately 4:50 a.m., and brought additional firefighters and equipment to the scene.
As crews worked to contain the blaze, firefighters discovered live power lines came down and called Duquesne Light to the scene to mitigate the electrical hazard.
The home was vacant at the time of the fire.
No injuries were reported. In addition to crew from several departments, Salvation Army 470 also assisted at the scene. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating.
