Preparations underway for August Fun Fest
It will take place Aug. 2 at Cedar Creek Park.
Music, motors and memories will take center stage at Cedar Creek Park when the August Fun Fest returns next month.
The annual event is set for Aug. 2 and will offer a full day of family entertainment, local vendors and community traditions.
The festival will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with free admission and parking, giving visitors an opportunity to enjoy live music, a classic car show, educational exhibits and activities for all ages.
One of the day’s biggest attractions will be performances by Bayou Blue, a high-energy tribute band celebrating the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival and Linda Ronstadt.
The group will take the amphitheater stage at 11 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. Festival organizers encourage concertgoers to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor performances.
Car enthusiasts can also expect one of the region’s largest vehicle displays as the Road Kings Car Club hosts its annual Show Car Cruise.
Beginning at 9 a.m., the showcase will feature more than 300 vehicles, including antique automobiles, hot rods, modified and stock cars, commercial vehicles and models through 2026. Motorcycles are also welcome to participate this year.
Families looking for hands on entertainment can visit Exotic Edventures, which will present live educational programs featuring rescued exotic animals at noon, 2 and 4 p.m.
The presentations are designed to entertain while teaching audiences about wildlife conservation.
For $5 per person, visitors can purchase an all-day activity pass, which provides unlimited access to carnival rides, the petting zoo and other attractions. The pass is cash only, although an ATM will be available on-site.
Beyond the entertainment, guests can browse more than 40 vendors in the Arts and Crafts Marketplace, shop the flea market and visit the Mid-Mon Valley Model Railroad Club display at Pavilion 16.
Live music will continue throughout the afternoon with the Cavalcade of Bands at Pavilion No. 1.
Five local musical groups will perform a variety of genres, including big band, jazz, patriotic selections and popular favorites.
Performances are scheduled for noon, 2, 3 , 4 and 5 p.m.
August Fun Fest is hosted by the Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation and is sponsored in part by the Road Kings Car Club.
