The classes begin Aug. 17 at the Penn State Fayette campus.

For the MVI

Rostraver/West Newton Emergency Services in conjunction with Penn State Fayette campus will hold its fall Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) class beginning Aug. 17 and running from 6 to 10 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays until Dec. 14.

Upon successful completion of this class, all students qualify to sit for the Pennsylvania Department of Health EMT test to become certified as a National Registered EMT.

The cost of the class is $400 plus the book preregistration is required. Anyone interested in attending should complete an application, which can be obtained online at RWNES. org or at the Rostraver Station, and return it with a $50 non-refundable deposit by Aug. 10.

Late registration will be accepted if space is available. All checks are to be made payable to R/WNES. In addition, students will need the AAOS 12th edition of Emergency Care and Transportation of the Sick and Injured, which can be picked up online.

The lead instructor for the class will be Jan Merlino along with several assistants from both R/WNES and Penn State.

R/WNES for the past 25 years has been conducting two EMT classes each year beginning in January and August.
