Celebrate Mother’s Day early in Monongahela with special event

The pre-Mother’s Day event is set for this Sunday at several downtown Monongahela businesses.

For the MVI

Downtown Monongahela will host a special Mother’s Day on Main event on Sunday to celebrate moms and mother figures with an afternoon of local shopping, hands-on activities and thoughtful experiences.

Mother’s Day on Main is set from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 3.

Designed as a pre-Mother’s Day outing, the event encourages visitors to explore small businesses while finding meaningful gifts and spending time together. Participating shops and pop-ups will feature interactive stations, giveaways and a variety of locally made products.

At 1837 Botanicals, guests can enjoy a do-it-yourself fresh flower bar, shop new houseplant inventory and browse a selection of lavender and iris plants perfect for spring planting. The location will also host several vendors, including Stained Design Studio, Simple String Studio and May Contain Nuts Bake Shop.

Rustic Roots Home and Body will offer a tarot card reader, permanent jewelry, product samples, mimosas and curated gift baskets — perfect for Mother’s Day shopping.

T. Lewis Tattoo LLC will offer flash tattoos throughout the day, and Monongahela Area Library will be set up inside the shop hosting a fundraiser featuring a Kate Spade purse raffle and adoptable tattooed clay bunnies available for a donation. The Coffin Bean & Co. will be set up outside, offering coffee and beverages for attendees to enjoy.

The Mon Valley Alliance, located at the cfsbank Business Resource Center, will have a photo booth experience by Studio 47 Portraits and information from Cali Cats Rescue.

Additional participating businesses include Chaney’s Natural, Cloud 9 Studio, Wooden Peel, Uncommonly Beautiful — launching its new hippie gift boxes just in time for Mother’s Day — and Nunny’s Magical Creations, where Lavonna will be creating balloon art. Many other downtown businesses will also be open throughout the event, offering a wide range of gifts, treats and experiences.

“This event is a great way to celebrate the important women in our lives while supporting local businesses,” said organizers. “It’s all about creating a welcoming, enjoyable experience for the community.”

Families and friends are encouraged to spend the afternoon exploring downtown Monongahela and discovering unique gifts and experiences ahead of Mother’s Day.
