Joan Kaschok

JUNE 6, 1939 – JAN. 8, 2026 Joan Kaschok was born on June 6, 1939, in Stockdale, Pa., to John Kashok Jr. and Alice Wi s l o sky Kas chok. She was predeceased by her sister, Donna Kaschok Armstrong. Joan leaves behind her life partner, Frank Gahagen; and her beloved daughter, Susan Gentile. Joan attended St. Francis School of Nursing and went on to enjoy a long and successful career as a nurse anesthetist at St. Francis and Presbyterian Hospitals. She was deeply dedicated to her profession and took great pride in caring for others. Outside of her career, Joan was passionate about animals, especially her cherished horse, Babe. She was a lifelong learner, voracious reader and attended many Osher classes upon retirement. She and Frank shared a love of travel and adventure, spending many happy times exploring national parks and participating in a wide range of outdoor activities. Joan will be remembered for her compassion, love of nature and devotion to those closest to her. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, at MELENYZER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATION SERVICES, 825 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022.
