Police apprehend Carroll Township burglary suspect

By TAYLOR BROWN, Senior Reporter

Carroll Township police say a late-night prowler tried to force his way into several homes in the Craven Hill section before officers wrestled him into custody early Saturday.

Boubacar Gueye, 31, address unknown, is charged with criminal trespassing – entering a structure, criminal trespassing breaking into a structure, three counts of loitering and prowling at night and single counts of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were called to 44 Orchard St. for a report that a man had jumped onto a porch in an attempt to get into a home around 6:47 p.m.

Monongahela and Charleroi Regional police were called to assist and found the man, identified as Gueye, beating on the back door of a residence at 41 Orchard St. Police said Gueye resisted arrest, aggressively pulling his arms away to avoid being placed in handcuffs.

He was identified by a New York State identification card after being placed into custody.

A resident of 44 Orchard St. told police he saw the suspect jump a gate to access the back porch of his home before he tried open the rear door.

A neighbor at 43 Orchard St. reported seeing a man “approximately 5 foot 10” knocking on a back door in the early morning hours.

The home owner said Gueye tried to enter a basement window before moving behind bushes near the front door.

A neighbor who lives at 41 Orchard St., said their backyard is fenced in but he saw a man he did not know banging on his back door.

Another neighbor, from 54 Orchard St., reported seeing the man run from 43 Orchard St. to 41 Orchard St. and jump a fence into the backyard, according to the complaint.

Police reported detecting the odor of alcohol coming from Gueye and said a small bottle of Fireball whiskey was found in his jacket pocket. He is being held in Washington County jail in lieu of $25,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing originally scheduled for 10:45 a.m. before Judge Chris Tenny has been rescheduled for 9:30 a.m. March 18 before Magisterial District Judge Mark Wilson in Monongahela.
