Saints Joachim & Anne Parish host angel tree

Saints Joachim and Anne Catholic Parish of Elizabeth/Glassport/ Liberty Borough recently participated in its annual “Angel Tree” gift giving project with over 500 gifts collected from parishioners. One of the nine agencies that helped was the Little SIsters of the Poor in Brighton Heights, which operates a nursing home for the elderly. Three cart loads of gifts were delivered for the residents. Shown, from left, are Sister Mary Matthew, the Rev. Tom Burke, pastor, Mother Lorraine, Linda Burke Schueler, R.N. (Burke’s sister), and Sister Georgia. Other agencies and organizations that were helped were Auberle of McKeesport, Elizabeth Salvation Army, Mantel House Mission in West Newton, Birthright Pittsburgh, Catholic Charities, the Seminarians of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Grandview Estates Nursing Home of Elizabeth Township and homebound parishioners of Saints of Joachim and Anne. Submitted
