Laura Thomson said their goal is to meet students and community members where they are and provide them with the tools, connections, and guidance to pursue meaningful opportunities.

The South Allegheny School District announced that Workforce Development Coordinator Laura Thomson began holding weekly office hours at the Glassport Municipal Building this week.

This new initiative is designed to strengthen connections between the district, its students, recent graduates, and the broader community by increasing access to workforce development resources and career guidance.

Office hours will be available at the following times:

• 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays.

• 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. the second Tuesday of each month.

Community members are welcome to stop in during these times. Walk-ins are encouraged, and appointments outside of posted hours can be scheduled upon request. “The addition of community office hours represents an important step in our ongoing efforts to provide pathways to family-sustaining careers for our students and residents,” said South Allegheny Superintendent David McDonald. “We want to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the resources and support they need to thrive in today’s workforce.”

Laura Thomson said their goal is to meet students and community members where they are and provide them with the tools, connections, and guidance to pursue meaningful opportunities.

“By opening our doors in Glassport, we are making it easier for individuals to explore career pathways and take the next steps toward achieving their goals,” she said.

The office hours are designed to benefit:

• Students preparing for post-secondary education, training, or employment

• Recent graduates navigating the transition into the workforce

• Community members seeking new opportunities or career changes South Allegheny’s Workforce Development program emphasizes career exploration, job readiness, and connections to local and regional employment opportunities. By extending support beyond the school day and into the community, the district continues its mission of preparing all learners for success beyond the classroom.

The Glassport Municipal Building is located at 12 Monongahela Ave.
