The Valley Art Club will host its 82nd annual exhibition with an opening reception from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Monessen Public Library, 326 Donner Ave Admission and parking are free.

The exhibit runs through Oct. 9 and will feature about 114 pieces, some for sale and others for viewing only.

Founded in 1941, the Valley Art Club brings together artists from across the Mon Valley.

This year, the art club will be sharing a famous piece of artwork. The artwork was divided into 24 sections. Each section was painted by a member of Valley Art Club, in their style and choice of medium.

To view the painting, you must come to the exhibit. Visitors to the exhibit can place a guess of the artist and title of painting at the library from Sunday through Oct. 4 during library hours.

The first correct guess will receive a gift card to By George restaurant. The second correct guess will receive a gift card to His Place Coffee, Community and More. Both businesses are in Monessen.

There will also be a silent auction to purchase the painting.

The highest bidder will be chosen at the close of the show on Oct. 9. The starting bid is $100.

All proceeds will benefit the Monessen Public Library.
