Rostraver library plans wine-tasting event

By LADIMIR GARCIA lgarcia@yourmvi.com

It will be held Oct. 25, and money raised will also go toward projects at the Smithton branch.

Rostraver Public Library will hold a wine-tasting event to raise funds for the facility and its sister branch in Smithton.

Library Director Kelly Yoskosky said they held similar events before the COVID-19 pandemic and have decided to restart them. Yoskosky encourages local residents to help the library and mingle with others at the event.

“The funds will also go towards our capital library improvement fund,” Yoskosky said. “We have some issues with the building. As time progresses and the building gets older, we have run into things that need to be either replaced and or enhanced.”

Tickets for the event are $50 per person and can be purchased at both the Smithton and Rostraver branches.

Yoskosky said they will only be able to accept cash and checks for the tickets. She added that there are limited spots, so she encourages people to get them as soon as they can.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Oct. 25 at Rostraver Public Library, which is located at 700 Plaza Drive in Rostraver Township.

Yoskosky said wines from around the world will be featured, including some local wines. The event will also include appetizers and multiple raffles, and participants will be able to purchase wines at the event.

“It’s a nice opportunity to network with local people and businesses,” Yoskosky said. “It’s also our opportunity to let the public be aware of the importance of maintaining the library. We have several things that need to be replaced. So it’s a very fun time. It’s a great time to mingle with the people from the area, businesses, and so forth.

“It’s also a great opportunity to support those libraries. In these trying times with economic strains and funds being pulled here and there, it’s difficult to just come up with those funds without the help from the public.”

The event will offer bottle sponsorships, giving businesses and individuals another way to support the event. There will be $100, $200, and $400 sponsorship levels, and each sponsorship will cover a bottle that will be auctioned off during the event.

Yoskosky said anyone who sponsors a bottle will have their name, logo or business displayed and announced alongside the bottle when it’s auctioned off. To sponsor a bottle, call 724-396-8393.
