Council is considering replacing the annual Halloween party with a trunk-or-treat event, not canceling trick-or-treat.

Glassport Council wants to clear up any misconceptions about Halloween trick-or-treat in the borough.
“There will absolutely be trick or treating,” said Council President Anthony Colecchi on Wednesday.
At a workshop meeting Tuesday, council discussed the possibility of canceling the annual Halloween Party that’s usually scheduled at the Glassport Honor Roll Park a week or so before Halloween.
There was some confusion as to what was being discontinued.
There hadn’t been enough participation in organizing and running the Halloween party in recent years, said Colecchi.
Instead of the Halloween party, council is considering a trunk or treat to run simultaneously with the borough’s annual trick-or-treat activities.
Council has sited safety as a key concern in introducing a trunk or treat, a community-based Halloween event that allows children to retrieve treats from trunks of cars in a centralized location, such as a school or church parking lot.
Colecchi said there will be more discussion at next Tuesday’s voting council meeting.
