‘Brawl in the Burgh’ bringing MMA to Rostraver
The 11-fight card begins Saturday at 7 p.m. at cfsBank Events Center.
If you are a fan of the hard-hitting, savage UFC fight shows that are either televised or shown on pay per view outlets, then you will want to be at cfsbank Events Center in Rostraver Township Saturday.
That facility will host “Brawl in the Burgh 28,” a UFC-style cage fight show. The 11-fight card is sponsored by 247 Fighting Championship.
Hunter Homistek, spokesman for 247 Fighting, said his organization has been in existence for six years and the upcoming card will be the company’s 35th show in that span.
“It is just like the UFC fights with incredible action in a cage,” said Homistek. “Our company has a lot of Pittsburgh-area fighters and we are really excited about this show.”
247 Fighting was founded in 2019 by Pittsburgh entrepreneur Ryan Middleton.
Homistek added that the company currently is MMA and grappling super fight focused with planned expansion to boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, amateur wrestling, pro wrestling and more in the future.
The 11-card show features four professional fights and seven amateur battles.
“It’s a good blend of fights for fans attending the show,” Homistek said. “We have some really talented fighters on the card.
“This is a huge stacked show that we are excited to bring to the Mon Valley.”
The featured bout is 247 Fighting Championship’s pro featherweight and lightweight champion Ethan Goss (Altoona – Gorilla House Gym) puts his 145-pound title on the line against Los Angeles fighter Brady Huang.
Goss is on a seven-fight winning streak and will likely jump to the UFC with a win against Huang, who is 14-4 overall and on a threefight winning streak of his own.
Pittsburgh superstar Justin Patton (The Mat Factory Wrestling Club) looks to extend his four-fight winning streak against dangerous veteran Chuka Willis (14-7).
“Both Goss and Patton are on the UFC’s radar and could make the jump to the next level with a big win on Saturday,” Homistek said. “This is uncommon for local fighters in the area and could provide a huge boost to the local scene and fight community as it continues to grow.”
Also on the card are the Lledo Brothers –– James and Jack. The siblings are elite collegiate wrestlers, and they face tough tests in 3-0 Tyler Dibert (James’ opponent) and debut Brazilian jiu-jitsu purple belt Sam Meloy (Jack’s opponent).
Tickets for the show are $50, and $150 for ringside. Homistek noted that many of the ringside seats have already been sold.
“We usually draw around 1,000 people for our shows, but we’re expecting 1,300 or more for Brawl in the Burgh because advance ticket sales have been going pretty good,” Homistek said. “There are plenty of good seats left.”
Tickets can be purchased at the door, which opens at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The first fight will start at 7 p.m. sharp, Homistek noted.
Every live event is streamed via 247 Live and available both live and on-demand.
