St. Vincent de Paul social hall available for weddings, other special events

St. Vincent de Paul social hall has been the site of many showers, receptions, birthday and anniversary parties, along with various other social and business events at the social hall of St. Vincent de Paul, 1701 Grand Blvd., Monessen.

With a large, arched trellis available, it has also been the site of weddings. The entrance, with a handicap- accessible ramp, is directly off Grand Boulevard. One half of the hall is equipped with large, round tables and leatherette armchairs with wheels. This portion can seat up to 80 people. If the whole hall is desired, 180 people can be accommodated. Separate bar and cloak rooms are features of the hall, along with modern restrooms.

The kitchen is equipped with all appliances necessary for events. Those renting the hall bring their own food or hire caterers of their choice.

The banquet hall was the final phase of the dream for the building by the late Richard Lenio.

When the former Park Casino was acquired 26 years ago, a massive cleanup was started, followed by extensive renovations that transformed the building into a thrift store, then an additional furniture department, and finally, the beautiful banquet hall.

The section of the building where the bowling alley, with the country’s first automatic duckpins was located, is now devoted to clothing, household items, toys and books, all on sale to the public.

One-of-a-kind bridesmaids or prom gowns, along with dresses suitable for mothers of the bride are available in this area, which is the upper level of the building.

The store is directly off the parking lot and has a handicap entrance. The store is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, except for major holidays. The social hall may be rented throughout the year.

For available dates and rates, call the store at 724684-5147.
