McKeesport firefighters respond to house fire
The McKeesport Fire Department responded to a fire Sunday, rescuing two cats in the process.
According to McKeesport Deputy Fire Chief Geno Esken, the department responded to the fire around 11:55 a.m. at 1028 Lincoln Way.
Esken said the house had several apartments, and three residents were inside the building at the time of the fire. Esken said a man and a woman living on the top floor of the building had to jump from a window to a porch on a lower floor.
Esken said the woman was treated and taken to the hospital after the fire. Esken added that the woman was the only person injured on the scene.
“The resident on the first floor had two cats, and after we were able to get a handle on the fire, we were able to locate those cats on the first floor, and they are alive,” he said.
Fire departments from White Oak, Munhall, West Mifflin, Glassport and the Allegheny County Airport Authority assisted in responding to the fire.
