CRIME BRIEF

An Elizabeth Township man is accused of leaving empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and other drug paraphernalia in the presence of a juvenile at his apartment.

Brett J. Faychak, 53, of Virginia Avenue, was charged with endangering the welfare of children after police were called to his residence Thursday for a medical call.

The juvenile at his residence asked a neighbor to call for help after Faychak was initially believed to be suffering from a heart attack.

When ambulance and firefighters got his residence, they contacted police to assist after noticing drug paraphernalia and believed the medical problem to be overdose related, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

Police said they found glass smoking pipes with residue on them and empty stamp bags in Faychak’s apartment. The juvenile was released to a relative.
