PAGES OF THE PAST

2004

• Friday will be the end of an era as the Fredericktown Ferry glides across the Monongahela River for the last time. Many people didn’t know it’s down here or thought it already closed.” Ridership on the ferry dropped following the opening of a new bridge, causing county officials to decide to close it for economic reasons.
