Mon Valley’s immigrants just want a better life

REMEMBER YOUR FIRST DAY at a new school being full of anxiety and wondering if you’d make friends? Or, remember leaving the comfort of home to head out on your own for the first time, or moving into a completely new town as a stranger wondering if your new neighbors will like you or if you’ll be accepted? Now, imagine having all of those reservations about those kinds of big life changes — but you are leaving your home from across the globe to a brand-new world with different cultures, religion and a new language. That’s what many immigrants encounter when they move to a strange new foreign land. The Mon Valley has become home for many pockets of immigrants from around the world who have come here legally and through the proper governmental channels to start a new life in America.
