HUMAN SERVICES AWARD
Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services Inc. (SPHS) received the Recovery- Friendly Workplace Award during the Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission (AICDAC) 2024 Recovery Hub Conference held May 31 at the Westmoreland County Community College Event Center. The award was accepted by, SPHS Chief Operating Officer Cheryld Emala.
SPHS was recognized for its values of understanding, compassion and support, serving as a model for how workplaces can contribute to the well-being and success of their employees, make a meaningful impact in the lives of those on the path to recovery, and set the standard for what a recovery-friendly workplace can look like.
Mark St. Cyr, a board member of both SPHS and affiliate agency, Mon Valley Community Health Services Inc., was also recognized at the conference. He was named Recovery Advocate of the Year.
SAMHSA’s official definition of recovery is “a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.” At SPHS, our staff, who have persevered through their recovery, personify this definition.
SPHS, the ninth largest non-profit human services provider in the southwestern Pennsylvania region, has been providing health and human services to individuals and families since 1964.
