Founders’ Hall Middle School passes air test
The building is deemed safe for occupancy.
Amid uncertainty about air quality and the safety of Founders’ Hall Middle School, McKeesport Area School District Superintendent Donald MacFann issued an update on recent testing.
MacFann said the district received laboratory results showing the building to be safe for occupancy. He issued the update Tuesday to prevent misinformation from spreading among the community.
“We are sharing this information to help prevent the spread of any misinformation,” MacFann said. “We apologize for any concern or confusion this situation may have caused.”
The district will continue cleaning affected areas using approved disinfecting products, as well as maintaining all repaired dehumidification systems to ensure continued efficient operation.
The district will conduct a second round of air quality testing with all its dehumidification equipment being fully repaired and functioning as intended. MacFann assured residents of McKeesport that the district will continue to monitor its buildings for any potential health hazards to their students, faculty and visitors.
“Through collaboration and communication, the McKeesport Area School District remains committed to keeping our parents/guardians and community informed and ensuring a safe, supportive environment for all students,” MacFann said.
Air quality testing was among the list of several objectives to be completed before the start of the upcoming school year. The next major objective involves investments into special education and individualized education plan programs.
