Ourania Galis

ROSTRAVER TOWNSHIP Ourania Galis, 97, of Rostraver Township, formerly of Monessen, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024, in Jefferson Hospital. She was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Chios, Greece. Mrs. Galis was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen and had been a member of the Philoptochos Society. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Christos Bantlis; her second husband, Harry Galis; a son, Pete Bantlis; and two loving brothers. Survivors include her daughter, Despina Conaway (Rusty); sons, George Galis (Dana) and Emil Galis (Jennie); grandchildren, Angel Temoshenka, Nikki Kelly (Bill), Christ Bantlis, Robbie Galis (Keren), Andy Galis (Alicia), Michael Galis (Lara), Emilio Galis (Lacey) and Zachary Galis (Erika); a brother, John Vogia; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC., 1209 Grand Blvd., Monessen. A Trisagion service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at St. Spyridon’s Greek Orthodox Church, with 11 a.m. the time of service with Father Meletios Gianniodis officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery.
