After a tough start Wednesday night at Thomas Jefferson, the Ringgold wrestling team was able to claw its way back for a 40-28 dual meet victory over the Jaguars.
The Jaguars started off strong before the Rams started to string together a number of wins at 215, 285, 114 and 127 to flip the script in their favor.
“I think some kids stepped up and put themselves in some uncomfortable situations when we got behind,” Ringgold coach Luke Smith said. “We knew we had to make some changes. There were some lineup changes that we planned on making, but then we had to keep them there and ‘trade points’ if you will. I put it on the kids, and they responded and stepped up.”
Bode Marlow claimed the first match at 160 with a pin of Ashton Mincin at 1:28 in the first period to give the Jaguars a quick 6-0 lead. Brady Fitz (172) and Zach LaBryer (189) pushed Thomas Jefferson to a 16-0 lead by claiming the next two matches.
Fitz won a 22-10 decision over Jack Duncan before LaBryer pinned Gavin Mincin with 1:18 remaining in the third period.
