William J. ‘Mac’ McVey – California, Pa.

William J. “Mac” McVey, 73, of California, Pa., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2023. He was born on Tuesday, June 20, 1950, in New Eagle, Pa., a son to Fred McVey and Annamary Cairns McVey. In addition to his parents, Mac was preceded in death by a daughter, DeAnna Savage; and his brother, John “Jammer” McVey. Bill retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel’s Allenport plant, where he worked as a crane operator. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Melissa Koteles of Stockdale, Pa.; four grandsons, Cody, Jonathan, Logan and Blake Koteles; son-in-law, Victor Savage; and former son-in-law, Gary Koteles. Friends will be received at MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, Pa., from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024. Prayers of transfer will be said in the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian burial in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, 624 Washington Ave., Charleroi, with Father Kevin Dominik as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center.
