Delmar “Del” P. Smith, 85, of Perryopolis, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, in Penn Highlands Mon Valley Hospital. A son of the late Lewis and Leona Smith, he was born on Feb. 7, 1938, in McKeesport. Formerly of Belle Vernon, Del has lived in Perryopolis for the past 50 years. He was a retired electrician belonging to the IBEW Local 5. Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Loraine Toth Smith; a daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Gordon Post of Mt. Lebanon; a son and daughter in-law, Duane and Amy Smith of Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Mary Lou Spradlin of Noblesville, Ind., and Rose Ann Fennell of Washington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Lucas (Renee) Smith, Ben (fiancé, Emma) Smith, Ian Post, and Nathan Post; four great-grandchildren, Dakota, Daisy, Brantley and Joshua; and his beloved dog, Bella. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Slater; and a brother, Frank Shaw. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2023 and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeandCrematory.com. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Lester Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. Donations can be made to one’s favorite charity.
