Titans nip Leps in overtime in section opener

The Belle Vernon Area girls basketball team had their three-game winning streak snapped Thursday, dropping its Section 3-4A opener to visiting West Mifflin, 42-41, in overtime. The Leopards (3-2, 0-1) rallied from a 10-point deficit, with some help from the Titans themselves, but were outscored 4-3 in the extra period.
