James Gagliardi – Finleyville
James Gagliardi, 90, of Finleyville, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, at Artis Senior Living of South Hills in Bethel Park. Born Dec. 20, 1932, in the Frye Station section of Monongahela, he was the son of Antonio and Mary Surace Gagliardi. Following his graduation from Monongahela High School in 1950, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, stationed in Las Vegas, Alaska and Japan. After returning home, he attended drafting school, and then in 1957, began working at the former Combustion Engineering in Monongahela as the supervisor of traffic and shipping until his retirement in 1982. A member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Monongahela, Jim loved watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and David Zuzek and Tamara and Sam Kildare both of Canonsburg, Michele Gagliardi-Svidro and husband, Frank, of Pittsburgh and Jodi Gagliardi-Stout and husband, John, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren, Derek and Dylan Zuzek and Brandon and Alexa Kildare; sister-in-law, Judy Gagliardi of Monongahela; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mary Jane Gagliardi, who died Oct. 4, 2015, twin grandsons, Kyle and Kevin Zuzek who died in infancy; two brothers, Albert P. “Spaghetti” (Levina) Gagliardi, John “Ponce” Gagliardi; and two sisters, Teresa (Mike) Dobos and Virginia (Louis) Razzano. Friends will be received at MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela, 724-258-6767, from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. Blessing prayers will begin in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, followed by a Mass of Christian burial beginning at 10 a.m. in St. Andrew the Apostle Parish, Monongahela. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township, with military honors conducted by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad.
