Esther Lucille Reconnu (née Dolan), 86, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 28, 2023. She was born on July 14, 1937, in Charleroi. Esther was a devoted mother, grandmother and friend. She had a strong belief in God and found comfort in her faith. Esther is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Grainger (Anthony), and their sons, Mark (Milena), Robert, Richard (Marsha), Bradley and Christopher (Laura), as well as six great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She is also survived by her daughter, Kathleen Houlton (George) and their daughter, Jessica, as well as three great-granddaughters. Additionally, Esther is survived by her son-in-law, Gary Lasher (Susan) and his son, Caleb, and daughters, Amanda (Christopher) and Allison (Tomas). Esther was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilfred Reconnu Jr.; her daughter, Susan Lasher; her father, Raymond “Huck” Dolan; her mother, Leona Carson Dolan; her sister, Alice Dolan; and her brother, Raymond “Pudgy” Dolan Jr. Esther attended Lock 4 School in North Charleroi for her primary education and graduated from Charleroi High School in the Class of 1955. She was a lifelong learner and valued education. Esther was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Burlington, Iowa, where she found solace and community. She cherished her time spent worshiping and connecting with others who shared her faith. In her free time, Esther enjoyed engaging in daily personal Bible devotions, playing the piano, playing Phase 10 and painting with watercolors. These hobbies brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity. A celebration of life service will be held in the spring of 2024 to honor Esther’s memory. The details of the service will be announced closer to the date. The family understands the challenges of winter travel and wants to ensure the safety of all attendees. Esther will be laid to rest at Mon Valley Memorial Park, alongside her husband in her home state of Pennsylvania. Esther Lucille Reconnu will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her unwavering faith, loving nature and creative spirit will forever be cherished. She is now walking the streets of gold in heaven.
