Winifred D. Oleksak – Rostraver Township

By obits

Winifred D. Oleksak, 82, of Rostraver Township, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023. Born in Collinsburg on Dec. 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred T. and Jean B. Povirk Dainty. Winnie’s career spanned several roles, including working as an administrative assistant for Lee Norse, Miller’s Department Store, BVA School District and Elliott Group. Devoted to her faith and community, Winnie was a member of the Church of St. Anne and the Rostraver Lions Club. Winnie found fulfillment in giving back, particularly through her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, and she extended it to her community by purchasing K-9 vests for the Rostraver and Monessen police departments. Her desire to ensure the safety and well-being of those who served their communities was an example of her selflessness. Winnie shared her love for football and the Pittsburgh Steelers with her late husband, Larry. They were ardent fans of the legendary Super Bowl teams from the 1970s. The highlight of their fandom was the opportunity to meet esteemed Steelers players such as Franco Harris, Lynn Swann and Jack Ham. Winnie and Larry’s adventurous spirits led them on countless travels across the country. During their journeys together, they captured precious memories through their photography and shared many wonderful moments riding horses on their horse farm. She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Peggy Kotch of Monessen and Teri Dainty of Texas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry; her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy D. and Charles Gillingham; and her brother, Wilfred W. Dainty. Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024, in the Church of St. Anne, Rostraver Township, with the Rev. Roselo Melloria presiding. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to JAMES C. STUMP FUNERAL HOME INC., 580 Circle Drive, Rostraver Township, 724-929-7934, www.jamesstumpfuneralhome.com.
