Concerns were raised about an air quality permit and a mineral mine permit by Recycle Zone LLC as well as the small number of local residents who know about the development during Wednesday’s Rostraver Township commissioner’s meeting.
Resident Debbie Fought used her five minutes during public comment to discuss the early stages of the potential plan to reopen the slag dump owned by Monessen-based Recycle Zone LLC.
She said that she went to many residents along Route 201, which runs closest to the proposed permit area, and found that most residents were unaware of the application.
“You’re not required to say anything, but it’s the health and safety of a lot of people that this comes to,” Fought said. “I understand this is just the beginning of the process and there’s a long way to go, however I know that it’s constantly what I deal with with the landfill and particulate matter and nobody’s out there looking.
