Edie Ann Popik – Belle Vernon

Edie Ann Popik, 89, of Belle Vernon, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023, in Country Care Manor. A daughter of the late Earl and Gladys Shepler Balmer, she was born in Allenport on Nov. 23, 1933. Edie was a member of First United Methodist Church in Belle Vernon, where she helped with their clothing drive, Clothes For You. She was also a member of many card clubs over the years, participated in the Curves exercise program until age 80, and in her younger years, was active in the local Junior Women’s Club. Edie was formerly employed at Montgomery Ward as a salesperson, retiring in 1995. She loved sewing, gardening and traveling, especially to Mexico. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheri and Richard Wiant and Pam and Craig Ambrose, all of North Belle Vernon; eight grandchildren, Rachael Lynn, Heidi Lynn, Jamason (Alia) Wiant, Kris Mastracci, Courtney Ambrose, Jeff (Shannon) Ambrose, Korey (Bobbi) Mastracci and Cody Ambrose; 10 great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, John T. Popik, on March 19, 2019; a daughter, Debbie Lynn in 2018; and two sisters, Marnie Bonari and Elta Woodings. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 700 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Jack officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
