William ‘Bill’ Laird – Rostraver Township

William “Bill” Laird, 57, of Belle Vernon, Rostraver Township, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023, at Brighton Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Beaver. Born Nov. 11, 1965, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late James Laird and Lillian Pozum Laird, who survives and resides in Belle Vernon. A lifelong resident of Belle Vernon, Mr. Laird was Christian by faith. Bill worked as a store clerk at Shop ‘n Save after he came home from serving in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves from 1983-89. He enjoyed building computers, was a big movie fan and enjoyed listening to rock music. He played the trumpet in high school, then went on to play in the Belle Vernon Community Band. He was a collector of comic books, comic memorabilia and military memorabilia. In addition to his mother, he is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eleanor and Artie Shaffer of Geneva, Ohio, and Elaine and Charles Gaertner of Carrboro, N.C.; four nieces and nephews, Devastasha (Dominic), Leo (Jenna), Greta and Van; and six great-nieces and great- nephews. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 18, 2023, followed by a blessing service at noon with the Rev. Michael J. Crookston officiating at PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME & CREMATIONS LLC, family owned and operated, 626 Broad Ave., Belle Vernon, 724-929-6183.
