Deadline for signatures today in spring primary

Today is the last day for candidates in this year’s municipal primary to circulate and file their nominating petitions. This is a municipal election year and will feature races for everything in local government from mayors and council members to constables and magisterial district judges. Local candidates figure out how many signatures they need by finding the number of winning votes their sought-after position received in the last election and then figuring out what 2% of that number is — that’s the minimum number of signatures a candidate needs to run for office.
