Community mourns its fallen officer

A Mon Valley city is mourning after one McKeesport police officer was shot and killed while on duty Monday afternoon, and another officer was sent to the hospital with at least one gunshot wound. On Monday night, McKeesport police Chief Adam Alfer identified the deceased officer as 35-year-old Sean Sluganski, who joined McKeesport’s police force in 2020 and was promoted to full-time in January of last year. The other officer who was shot is 35-year-old Charles “Chuck” Thomas, who has worked for the department for four years.
