Merrill Ann Tolliver Isbell
April 26, 1949 –
Jan. 28, 2023
This is the story of Merrill Ann Tolliver Isbell, a wonderful woman who was loved, is missed and will always be cherished. Merrill was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was born on April 26, 1949, to the late Lawyer and Lena Bailey Tolliver in McKeesport. She had been employed for many years as a clerk at Charleroi Borough and the police department and as a security guard at Cricklewood towers apartments homes until her retirement. She was a part of the Highland Terrance Mom Squad, who took the saying “It takes a village to raise a child” to heart as she and the other mothers looked out for the welfare of all the children growing up in the “JETS.” Merrill fed all the children she encountered until the day she was called home. Merrill married Thurman “TI” Isbell and moved to Charleroi. Merrill enjoyed cooking, bingo, gardening and arts and crafts. She leaves to carry on her memory her devoted husband; children, Stephen (Anita) Tolliver of Lithonia, Ga., David (Stephanie) Spence of Clairton, Rena Tolliver Alford of Donora, William (Lexie) Tolliver of Donora, Daryl (Misti) Tolliver of Donora, Jody (Tasha) Isbell of Tennessee, Thurman (Ty) Isbell of South Carolina, Patricia Bright of Philadelphia; two grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren; Pauline Lawerence of Pittsburgh; Sadie (Stanford) Johnson; and a host of family and friends. There to receive her in heaven on Jan. 28 were her parents, grandchildren, Darnell Gartrell Jr. and Cho’Zyn Williams; brothers, Theodore, John and Edward Tolliver; and sisters, Doris Tolliver, Janice (Tolliver) Spence and Mary (Tolliver) Hardy. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, 20 Brushton Lane, Charleroi, PA 15022. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROBERT A. WATERS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 449 Mitchell Ave., Clairton, PA 15025, 412-233-6745.
