W. Robert Zaph – State College

W. Robert Zaph, of State College, Pa., passed away at the age of 79 on Jan. 15, 2023. He was the son of the late Eleanor King Crawford Carson. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Kate O’Keeffe Zaph, and his beloved partner, Jan Gearhart. He is survived by sisters, Cathy (Bernie) Medved of Elizabeth, Janie (late Stan) Halle of Level Green, Pa., and Denise (late Patrick) Meehan of Maplecrest, N.Y.; four nieces and one nephew; special nephew, Jerry O’Keefe and family from Ireland. Bob attended West Virginia University and graduated from Penn State University. He was employed by the Coronado Inn and Country Club in Texas, the Nassau Inn at Princeton University and the Nittany Lion Inn at Penn State University as a hotel manager. He ended his career working for State of the Art in State College. He was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church. He had a lifetime love of music and enjoyed playing the piano, the organ and singing. He also loved to travel. The family would like to thank his wonderful neighbors on Wilts Lane and special friends, Pat and Jerry Gearhart, for their friendship and support. A private family service will be held.
