Ringgold School District administrators held their mid-year review Wednesday, detailing the successes and shortcomings of the district’s post-pandemic curriculum.
Following COVID restrictions, student reading and math skills declined across the county. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, 9-year-olds saw a seven-point decline in math skills and a five-point drop in reading comprehension, dropping average test scores to 1990 levels.
Ringgold saw similar declines in test scores over the pandemic. According to the Pennsylvania Department of Education, between 2019 and 2022, Ringgold Elementary School North (RESN) saw a drop in proficient or above language skills by 6.7% on state issued standardized tests.
