Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Ann Shepelak Kvartek – Canonsburg

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Shepelak Kvartek, 74, of Canonsburg, passed away on Monday, Jan. 9, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. Born in Charleroi on June 29, 1948, daughter of Andrew and Martha Todic Shepelak. Betty Ann was Byzantine by faith. She was a 1966 graduate of Charleroi High School and a 1968 graduate of Washington School of Nursing. She had worked for many years at Washington Hospital where she was an IV nurse. Betty Ann is survived by her brother, Andrew Milan Shepelak of Mapleview; an aunt, Mildred Psak of Chambersburg; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Thomas Yurchick of Ellsworth; nephew, Thomas Yurchik of Ellsworth; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Kvartek, on Oct. 8, 2022. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, 2022, at LEONARD M. PAVLIC FUNERAL HOMES INC., 235 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, 2023, at St. Mary Assumption Byzantine Church Monessen, with the Rev. Stephen Wahal officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery Carroll Township. Panachida will begin at 2 p.m. in the funeral home on Sunday and the Charleroi Knights of Columbus Charleroi will have a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
