People were waiting in a long line outside of Elizabeth Township Fire Department’s Central Fire Hall when Karl Weigand opened the doors Sunday.
The Elizabeth Township man and his family gave away 500 toys to families in need yesterday during their Stuff-A-Bus toy giveaway. Two hundred additional toys were given to the Elizabeth Forward School District.
Township residents — and some folks from Monroeville, McKeesport and North Versailles came for toys between noon and 2 p.m Sunday. Only one small bag of toys was left after it was said and done.
The event benefited families that may be having a hard time this year.
Weigand encouraged individuals to bring birth certificates with them, but no parent or child was turned away.
It’s the seventh year in a row Weigand has organized the giveaway.
