Joann Sue Eland Nelson, 62, of Belle Vernon, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born June 24, 1960, in Charleroi, daughter of Charles Eland and Helen Zeffe Eland. She was a member of First Christian Church, Fayette City. She was a 1978 graduate of Belle Vernon Area and she loved her family endlessly. She is survived by her son, Nathan Nelson; daughter, Melissa Nelson; grandson, Aiden Nelson; brother, Bobby Eland and wife Mary Jo of Fayetteville; sister, Charla Peters and husband Joe of Monessen; her niece and caregiver, Ruth Farmer and husband Tony; and father and mother-in-law, Duane and Kay Nelson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Scott Nelson; daughter, Christina Nelson; and brother, Gordon Eland. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022, at Fayette City First Christian Church with the Rev. Wayne Boring officiating. Inurnment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery for the immediate family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to ELEY/MCCRORY FUNERAL HOME INC., Fayette City.
