The Washington County Agricultural Fair returns for eight days starting today, featuring improvements such as a heavily renovated hall and improved pavement, fencing and sidewalks, in addition to the expected barn animals, food, live music and more. The fair runs through Aug. 20, and admission costs $10 a day with senior, veteran and child discounts and a $30 weekly pass option.
The annual fair, which began in 1798, provides a substantial contribution to the county’s economy, with an estimated $5,203,000 annual impact, according to the fair board. Last year, 55,813 people attended, fair secretary Wayne Hunnell said Friday at a preview event for media.
“With the way the weather looks right now, I hope we can beat that number and see something more like 56,000 or 57,000 this year,” Hunnell said.
