Mary Jean Coleman, Monessen

Mary Jean Coleman, 86, of Monessen, passed away on Aug.  9, 2022, in her daughter’s home in Eighty Four, Pa. She was born Oct. 5, 1935, in Monessen to John and Catherine (Sobol) Chomosh. She was baptized Ukrainian Orthodox and later became Catholic. Mary is survived by her four sons, John (Patience) Coleman of Monessen, Scott E. Coleman of Aliquippa, Mark J. (Sheila) Coleman of Monessen and Glen D. (Wanda) Coleman of Rostraver Township; daughter, Cheryl (Gerard) Gindele of Eighty Four; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and her brother, Ben Homas of Spring Beach, Texas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Coleman; and five sisters, Helen Meisal, Rose Adamson, Ann Gallas, Margaret Opat and Olga Cieply. Private family services were held Friday at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, with the Rev. Michael Crookston officiating. Burial followed in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Online condolences can be given at www.billicksfuneralhome.com.
