Zachary A. Karenchak – Camp Hill, Pa.
Zachary A. Karenchak, 33, of Camp Hill, Pa., passed away June 17, 2022, at Har-risburg Hospital. He was born May 4, 1989, in St. Marys, Pa., son of Eton “Buster” Karenchak and Crystal Heckel Karenchak. Zachary was a graduate of St. Marys Area School District and the University of Pittsburgh. Zack was employed at National Government Services and was a founding member and board treasurer for Foster Strong. Zack was also a founding member of Youth Move PA, a youth, young adult and ally organization. He was a former member of the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Mental Health Planning Council, an Advocate for Mental Health, a trainer for Youth and Young Adult Roadmap and Question Persuade and Refer and a former member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Zack had a passion for history and politics and worked on several political campaigns, all Pittsburgh sports teams and loved baseball. Zack enjoyed re-enacting and favored Civil War re-enacting and visiting civil war battle sites. Zack leaves behind a family of national and international gaming communities among them Ingress, Politics and War, ORNA and Live Action Role Playing. Zack is Survived by his mother, Crystal Heckel Karenchak; brothers, Bryan (Bethany) Cannella and Gregg Cannella; two nephews, Xavier and Caleb Cannella; aunts and uncles, Ruth and Vernon Holmes, Mark and Lisa Karenchak, Dawn Scott, Pam (Brian) Heckel Mohr, Marlene and (Daryl) Wilson; great-aunts Lila Howarth and Kitty Schaffer; many cousins; a much-loved goddaughter, Grace Pontious; and a very special person Zack had in his life, Avery McDonald. Zack was preceded in death by his father, Eton “Buster” Karenchak; paternal grandparents, Alex and Betty Karenchak; maternal grandparents, Ralph and Lillian Heckel; and uncles, Anderson Karenchak and Mark Heckel.
