Charlotte A. (Chadwick) Rodriguez – formerly of Donora

Charlotte A. (Chadwick) Rodriguez, 95, formerly of Donora, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022, in Hallsworth House PCH, Monessen. She was born July 11, 1927, in the family home at 424 McCrea Ave., Donora. The daughter of the late James C. and Lillian (Schwer) Chadwick Sr., she was a lifelong resident of Donora until 2019 and a 1945 graduate of Donora High School. Charlotte was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Frank R. Rodriguez Sr. in 1988; and four siblings, Ethel M. Chadwick and three brothers, James C. Chadwick Jr., Robert V. Chadwick and Arnold W. Chadwick. She also lost a beloved son, Frank “Rick” Rodriguez Jr. in 2021. She is survived by a son, James C. Rodriguez (Patricia) of Ruffs Dale; caring daughter-in-law, Nancy S. Rodriguez of Fayette City; four grandchildren, Rachael E.R. Eilerman (Samuel) of Greensburg, Kyle K. Rodriguez (Janell) of Morgantown, W.Va., James C. Rodriguez Jr. (Eva) of Mt. Pleasant and Joseph S. Rodriguez (Cassandra) of McClellandtown; one great-granddaughter, Charlotte J. Rodriguez of Mt. Pleasant; along with nieces and nephews, especially Judy Mrlack, who would often bring her aunt goodies from the bakery. Charlotte started her career as a secretary in the Donora school system. She then worked at the milk store in downtown Donora, where she is remembered for wearing the familiar red smock, and then as a clerk at Louie’s Bakery in Charleroi. In her later years, she served the Community Park Trustees and Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce and the former John K. Tener Library, both based in Charleroi, through the Green Thumb Program. In between her lengthy working career, Charlotte was involved with the Donora Unidon Club, auxilian for the Donora Elks Lodge and Spanish Women’s Bowling League and was a neighborhood election poll worker. She served as past president for Donora Youth Athletic Association, for which she received an award for her help to young athletes in 1983. A special thanks goes out to Hallsworth House PCH and ViaQuest Hospice, who took care of Charlotte and made her last days comfortable and peaceful. In honor of Mrs. Rodriguez’s request, there will be a private viewing for immediate family at ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second Street Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900 with a Christian blessing service followed by burial at Mon Valley Memorial Park, 49 Second St. Ext., Donora, where she longed to join her loving husband, Frank, and devoted son, Rick.
