McKeesport Area School Board hears update on diversity programs

McKeesport Area School District is focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion, commonly referred to as “DEI.”
On Wednesday, the school board heard from Dr. Erika Gold Kestenberg, an independent consultant who has been leading a DEI initiative at the district. The board approved Kestenberg’s work last December. On Wednesday, it approved a new motion allowing her work to continue in the district through June 2023 at a cost not to exceed $6,000 per month. Kestenberg’s work is paid for in part by pandemic relief funds and the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation. Kestenberg defined the meanings of “equity” and “inclusion.”
