Olga ‘Dolly’ Cieply – Burlington, N.C., formerly of Monessen

Olga “Dolly” Cieply, 90, of Burlington, N.C., formerly of Monessen, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in Moses Cone Hospital, Greensboro, N.C. She was born in Monessen July 12, 1931, daughter of the late Charles Ellin and Dorothy Leavor Ellin. Dolly moved to Burlington, N.C., in May 2021 to be closer to her daughter, Marcy. She was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Roman Catholic Church. She was a very active member of the Epiphany Ladies and Catholic Daughters of the Americas, where she cooked and was on many committees. She first was employed by G.C. Murphy, Sears Catalog and Fox Grocery, which later became Supervalu, where she worked for 26 years and later retired. After retiring, she became very active in church activities, plus helping make haluski and pierogies. She graduated from Monessen High School with the Class of 1949. She helped plan and organize all of their class reunions. Her favorite pastime was playing cards twice a week with her card club of over 60 years and also bingo at her complex. She enjoyed her new toy, the Kindle Fire, which she used to keep in touch with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to visit with family throughout the U.S. She is survived by her daughter, Marcy (Rob) Lazzari of Burlington, N.C.;  two sons, John M. (Dori Hrebenar) Cieply of Miami, Fla., and David A. (Shauna Elder) Cieply of Cumming, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Ashlee (Alexis) Aleman, Alyson (Yessid) Arroyave, Kristina (Chris) Oliver, Robbie (Liz) Lazzari, Laura (Jobal) Baldwin, D.J. (Jessie) Cieply, Lincoln (Camila) Cieply, Luke (Cate) Cieply, Jake Cieply; 11 great-grandchildren, Jett and Cooper Aleman, Elijah, Nova and Oliver Baldwin, Isla and Elle Arroyave, Liam Oliver, Adley and Atticus Cieply and Lena Lazzari, (three additional great-grandchildren are to be born before 2023); and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61½ years, John Cieply, who died Oct. 20, 2011; an infant daughter, baby girl Cieply; brother, Charles Ellin; and sister, Alice Marie Frolo. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES, 441 Reed Ave., Monessen. Services will be held Wednesday, beginning with a blessing service in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. funeral Mass at Epiphany of our Lord Church with the Rev. Father Michael J. Crookston officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen. The Epiphany Ladies and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas prayer services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
