Gene W. Russo, 73, of Fallowfield Township, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. A son of the late Eugene and Patricia Galen Russo, he was born in Belle Vernon on June 5, 1948. Formerly of Belle Vernon, Gene had been a resident of Fallowfield Township for the past 26 years. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle in Charleroi, a life member and former chief of the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Company, and past president of the Southwestern Chiefs Association. Gene had been employed at the former Fox Grocery prior to his career as a sales manager in the automotive industry. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Andrea Kalnicky Russo; a son and daughter in-law, Justin and Lesley Russo of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and Theron DiPietrantonio of Charleroi; and five grandchildren, Giuliana, Giannina and Rocco Russo and Lairah and Rya DiPietrantonio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2022, at FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., Belle Vernon, 724-929-5300, www.FergusonFuneralHomeAndCrematory.com. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Crookston as celebrant. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church.
