Anastasia ‘Stacy’ Tetteris – Monessen
Anastasia “Stacy” Tetteris, 91, of Monessen, passed peacefully with her family on Friday, March 25, 2022, in her home. Born in Chios, Greece, on July 15, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George and Policriti Vasilakis Zombakis. After World War II, Stacy came to the United States with her father in pursuit of a better education. She became an active member of the original St. Spyridon Church, joining the Greek American Progressive Association Young Ladies Lodge of Monessen. She participated in many fundraisers, including plays to help build the new St. Spyridon Church on Reeves Avenue. Her service to the church continued throughout her lifetime, as she was an active member and officer for the Ladies Philoptochos Society, president of the Sunday school program and a member of the church choir. An excellent seamstress, she volunteered many hours in creating various articles for the church. Stacy was also a talented baker and helped the church with numerous cookie sales, festival preparation and servings. She also loved baking for her family. With a green thumb, Stacy surrounded the family home with beautiful flowers and fruit trees. Stacy worked at Magora’s Sewing Factory when she was single and worked at Stern’s Furniture Store, sewing custom draperies. Stacy loved to read and volunteered at Monessen Public Library. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Steve Sotiras Tetteris; two sisters, Virginia Kritis and Eleanora Mikerdis; and a brother, Demo “George” Zombakis. A mother of three, Stacy is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Maria Tetteris and husband Ron Kurey of Belle Vernon, Paulette Tetteris of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and one son and daughter-in-law, George and Betty Tetteris of Mt. Pleasant. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, George Tetteris Jr., Anastasia Woosley, Alexandra “Stephanie” Woosley, Stephen and Jessica Antonishen and Michael and Kelly Antonishen. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Joy and Robin Antonishen. Stacy loved her numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, and was thankful for her extended family. Spunky and kind, Stacy left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at ROBERT A. BILLICK FUNERAL HOME INC., Grand Boulevard and Marion Avenue, Monessen, www.billicksfuneralhome.com, and from 9 until 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church.
