Bessie Jean Tedrow Ciavarra, 100, of Charleroi, passed away peacefully on Feb. 23. 2022, at Grandview Estates of Elizabeth. Born in Fallowfield Township on Nov. 25, 1921, Bessie is the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Dillner Tedrow. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fayette City, where she served as church treasurer, was on the board of elders and was an elder elect to the presbytery. She was also a member of the Mid Mon Valley Ministerial Association. Jean loved dancing, bowling and playing cards. She also enjoyed tending her flowers and watching the birds. Jean is survived by her nephews, Jack, Jim (Ann), Doug, Brad Tedrow, Ron (Mary Anne, deceased) McCracken and Bert (Betsy) Winters; and nieces, Jerilyn (Ellsworth) Cottom, Linda Thompson, Andrea (Jamie) Anderson, Amanda (James) Tedrow-Gilstrap, Patricia Shields, Pamela Tedrow, Jean Tedrow and Kerry Tedrow. Also surviving are many great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brothers, Morris (Wilda), Howard, James (Imogene) and Charles E. (Patricia) Tedrow; sisters, Maythen (Duane) Duvall, Katherine “Kay” Winters and Maragert Ellen; and nephews, Norman “Herk” McCracken, Ray Winters and Scott Tedrow. Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at HOGAN-MELENYZER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC. (formerly Schrock- Hogan Funeral Home), 226 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, PA 15022. A graveside service will be held at Maple Creek Cemetery at 1:15 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Marton officiating.
