By obits

Dave Lessman of Fallowfield Township passed peacefully at his granddaughter’s home in the arms of family on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022. Born Feb. 23, 1940, in Charleroi, he was the son of the late Aberhardt and Violet Lessman. He was a loving husband for 46 years to the late Donna Lessman; stepfather of John W. Remish; devoted grandfather of Hailey Laine Whetzel (Nate) and Torre Lee Horne (Jake); and proud great-grandfather of Atlas Horne and Ava Whetzel. In addition to his wife, he was proceeded in death by his brothers, Robert Lessman of Texas and Carl Lessman of Sewickley; and sister, Norma Lessman Lensky of Charleroi. Besides his loving family, he is survived by a niece, Sharon Evans of Monessen. Dave retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in 1998 and continued as co-owner and operator of Donna Lessman’s Catering. His favorite pastimes included nightly calls with his granddaughters, lunch dates with his girlfriend, Janet, and having coffee with his McDonald’s friends. Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. His family would like to send their sincere gratitude to Janet Kandrick for being his loving and loyal companion, Robert “Bob” Watkins for being a devoted friend and Jaime Price for helping to care for him in his final days. Lastly, a special thank you to Dr. James O’Toole, Dr. James Rossetti, the Lemieux Center staff and OSPTA Home Health & Hospice for helping him to be comfortable in his final months. Professional services are entrusted to THOMAS M. SMITH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY LTD., 930 Center Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15238 (Blawnox), www.thomasmsmithfuenralhome.com.
